Step into the rhythm of patchwork with the block that has welcomed generations of quilters: the classic Nine-Patch. This workshop is all about building confidence, finding ease at the sewing table, and learning the fundamental skills that make patchwork joyful rather than intimidating.
We’ll work with straight-grain fabric and simple squares, giving you immediate success and a strong foundation for future quilt projects.
What we’ll focus on
Straight rotary cutting for clean, accurate pieces
¼″ seam allowance — the essential quilting measurement
Chain piecing for efficiency and consistency
Nesting seams for matching corners with ease
What you’ll make
You’ll leave with one finished Nine-Patch block, made start to finish by you, and the confidence to repeat the steps to create a full quilt.
Materials & What to Bring
Fabric: Bring at least two different colors or prints—a quarter yard (fat quarter) of each works perfectly. Cotton or cotton-blend fabrics are recommended.
Sewing Machine: Bring your own machine, if possible.
A spare machine is available by request—please reach out in advance to reserve it.
Thread & Needles: Please bring thread and the appropriate needles for your sewing machine.
Supplies Provided
Cutting mats, rotary cutters, and rulers are provided; you may bring your own new rotary blade if you prefer.
Perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to refresh their fundamentals, this workshop offers supportive guidance, space to practice, and time to find your rhythm at the sewing table.
